Hoop House

A lightweight and portable greenhouse

Done in collaboration with Ryan Smith, Ghalya Alsanea, Dave Choi and Jamie Ho.

A portable and dis-assmblable greenhouse that extends the growing season, created for the rooftop of the David Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA. The hoop house is made out of bent conduit and greenhouse plastic, using various joinery techniques while being within a budget of $80. It is designed to be airtight, while giving easy access to the plants through openable flaps. The use of Hose Clamps to secure it to the base allows the user to install and un-install it easily while keeping it well anchored to the base when in use. The hoop house has been sculpted to be aerodynamic, due to strong wind conditions on the site.
