Linguistic Clock

A clock that "tells" you the time

When: September 2018

Who I worked with: Done under Prof Golan Levin.

What I learned: The importance of timing to any interactive artwork.

What this was: This is a clock that tells you the time in a rather colloquial fashion. The intent is to draw the viewer in with a representation of time that seems like a solvable puzzle, and then consistently increase the complexity of the problem, eliciting a response of exasperation and anxiety from the audience. Or in other words, "There's never enough time!?".

Watch the embed below on the left for around 2 minutes to see what happens, alternatively, look at the sped up GIF on the right next to it.

Coming soon: A physical, arduino-based clock that speaks to you.
